Windows 7 faster than both XP and Vista

In a test on 23 small daily activities the new operating system is clearly fastest.

It is Adrian Kingsley-Hughes over at his blog at ZDNet, which has made a test of how fast the various Windows versions perform tasks such as installation of the operating system boot time, file-transfer, file-packing or office installation. He has tested two different machines, none of them are decidedly high-end, but one is nevertheless equipped with a quad-core Phenom processor.

The conclusion is clear: Windows 7 wins in all tasks except 2 out of 23 In second place, there is more tension: it turns out that Vista is the second fastest quad-core machine with 2GB of RAM, while XP will silver less 1GB dual-core machine.

Kingsley-Hughes is very enthusiastic about the new operating system, but he has, however, as we also have written a few reservations.
