BMW 520d has been launched for Indian Market

After the very long wait, BMW India finally decided to release the new BMW 520d for Indian market. BMW India has unveiled BMW 520d in Gurgaon on the 8th of December 2010 and now can be ordered through BMW dealerships across India. On its launch the President of BMW India, Dr. Andreas Schaaf said, “The 5 Series is the core model in our product portfolio. The new BMW 5 Series sedan, since its launch in April 2010, has successfully emerged as a leader in the luxury sedan segment in India. The new BMW 520d sets a new benchmark for four cylinder diesel sedans by combining outstanding performance with incomparable fuel efficiency.”

The new BMW 520d offers better fuel economy about 18.4 km / liter. This is especially measured for the Indian market by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The fuel economy has been possible through the implementation of ‘Efficient Dynamics’. This car offers a 2-liter four cylinder turbo diesel engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new BMW 520d will be made as CKD (completely knocked down units) at the BMW plant in Chennai, and will be available for customers at the price of Rs 36, 90,000. It is much cheaper than its muscular older siblings.

The new BMW 520d also integrates Brake Energy Regeneration, advanced Electronic Power Steering, and light weight construction technology which makes it technologically superior car. This car will be available in 10 beautiful colour ranges – Cashmere Silver, Space Grey, Alpine White, Deep Sea Blue, Milano Beige, Black Sapphire, Titanium Silver, Sophosto Grey Brilliant Effect, and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect. It can race 100 km / h in 8.1 seconds and comfortably reach a top speed of 225 km / h.
