
Idea cellular launched 3G Android Smartphones to attract the customers towards its side in providing both 2G and 3G services. It also implied that the users will be able to access the internet through these new handsets.
These smartphones will drive these existing 3G services. They are looking for any possibilities to enter into the 3G mobile tablet market. However final decision is not yet taken.
Himanshu Kapania, Idea Cellular Managing Director shared his views and he added that he has not yet given time to think on increased 3G smartphones and their penetration towards the country. He said the plan on increasing the average revenue per user is under decision.
Managing Director for idea mobile said that they are not planning to enter towards the 3G handset business however their objective is mainly focused on to provide a 3G penetrated handset with affordable price. They would like to offer these handsets as an accessory for the idea mobile users.
Idea cellular has been tied up with two major Chinese companies. Primarily with the Chinese firm Huawei, to produce a Smartphone with Rs. 5,850 and with 2.8 inch screen. The second Chinese company is ZTE where they produce 3.5 inch screen Smartphone for about Rs. 7, 992.
As a special offer they don’t give to voice plan services nevertheless they provide an alternate idea data services which is worth of Rs. 3,500 with Rs. 259 pack. This is available along with the 3G idea smartphones. This Rs. 259 pack offers free subscription for three months and they permit 1GB data download.
However 3G “double damaka” offered by idea cellular for six months along with Rs. 25 talk time. This plan is for both prepaid and post-paid customers. Due to their multitasking capabilities these smartphones are soundful worldwide and they are used for various and vast range application.
