A leading handset manufacturer, Nokia is going to launch its new digital listings services called “Nokia Listings” in India. This service is developed by Nokia Beta Labs and it connects the sellers and buyers by a simple digital platform. The Nokia Listings provides a place where user can transact or sell goods and services with other user through a mobile client interface. This is exclusive for the Nokia handsets. The Nokia Listings can work without the GPRS service. In the absence of GPRS it can be used through SMS.

The Nokia Listings helps users to get information about the sale or purchase any object, search or post a job, find services such as driver services, plumbers and auto repairs using your phone only. The target of Nokia is to provide a digital market place to customers on low cost handsets like Series 40 (S40). To access the listings, Java codes is also developed. But this code can be applicable only on most Java enables phones such as S40 handsets. Nokia said, “60% of all hiring’s or direct sales between consumers are done through inexpensive yet tedious word-of-mouth, or through extortive middle-men.”

At present, the Nokia Listings service will be launched only in India. The aim of Nokia is to generate a community of seller, buyers, employers, local businessman, and the job seekers. The Nokia Listings has some exciting features like –

1. There is no registration required for service.
2. The service is used through both GPRS and SMS.
3. It helps user to SMS or call to other party by the application then forward listings to their friends.
4. This is Geo-coded therefore user can find the services close to their place.

Now listings data are available for Bangalore in the categories of Autos, Jobs, Local services and mobile phones and more listings data will be added in the next few months.
