Xbox One X preview

Microsoft has unveiled its new console, the Xbox One X, with ultra high-resolution 4K capabilities and a processor with liquid-cooling technology, claiming that it is the most powerful game console to date. But those with 1080p TVs will also benefit - games on the Xbox One X will look better on HDTVs thanks to supersampling.

The Xbox One also retailed at $499 when it was launched in November 2013, making it more expensive than its biggest rival: The $399 PlayStation 4.

Broadcast for the first time in 4K UHD on Mixer, Xbox showcased a record 42 games in its briefing, including 22 with console exclusivity from large and small creators. The new console, formerly known as "Project Scorpio", is compatible with Xbox One games.

At the moment, there is no word on which original Xbox titles are included in the backward compatibility support for the Xbox One. Microsoft ultimately picked Xbox One X because it fit with the power message and the original Xbox branding. IHS Markit analyst Piers Harding-Rolls doesn't expect price to have an impact for Microsoft's target audience.

Overall, Phil Spencer's perspective on consoles and gaming is quite interesting, and you can check out the entire interview by hitting the source link below.

Last Monday, Xbox marketing chief Mike Nichols stated that the Xbox One X won't be supporting VR.

Xbox One is the only console system created to play the best games of the past, present and future.

However, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter says the "pricey" Xbox One X could become a hard sell for Microsoft.

Some experts say £449 is too much for what is basically a more powerful version of the existing Xbox One S.

"As far as I'm aware, there is nothing that offers the combination of power and performance at the price that we're doing right now [with Xbox One X]". [.] There's not a ton of work developers are having to do to get to 4K, and then they can spend the extra headroom they have and time to ideal the game they want to build.
