Tom Holland reveals plans for Spider-Man franchise

Tom Holland reveals plans for Spider-Man franchise

Still, with Tom Holland's rising star status and the positive response to his Spider-Man, this is a very smart move for both Marvel and Sony.

It puts you in an open-world New York City, and when you swing around the world, you really feel like you're in control of Spider-Man's movements.

In the Marvel blockbuster, Tom Holland plays "Peter Parker" who is chauffeured around by "Happy Hogan" played by Jon Favreau in the new Audi A8 L. This movie scene gives a first impression of the front design cues and side profile of the new sedan. He's definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

"There will be a Spider-Man 2 and 3..."

When faced with the fact that a third Spider-Man film with him starring hadn't officially been announced, he jokingly stated "Yeah, well now you know, sorry Marvel".

For all the excitement we've seen about this on the internet, it's not really much of a surprise. "It won't be "Homecoming" 2 and 3." he told French outlet AlloCiné. He'll also appear in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, but this is the first real indication that his solo movies would be an interconnected trilogy. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man.

There had been rumors that, furious with the overall cost of Homecoming, Sony had elected to terminate their relationship with Marvel, leading to their announcement of their own comic book universe, with Tom Hardy as Venom.

That said, the most logical assumption is that, having seen the final footage for Homecoming, Sony feels more confident trusting the character to Marvel long term. They would be insane to not continue their collaboration with Marvel Studios, especially if their only other plan for the Spider-Man property is spin-offs for Venom and ancillary characters like Silver Sable and Black Cat.
