PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft will not support upcoming crossplay update

Microsoft's conference at E3 2017 was as bombastic as ever, and their announcement of the Xbox One X came with a few exciting game announcements.

It lets you and up to 10 friends play at the same time, and only those that you invite can join your world - leaving what you do on your server entirely up to you, whether that be creating, surviving or competing.

The Community Marketplace, which hit Pocket and Windows 10 editions in June, was a big part of this transition, allowing players to search for, buy and sell their own in-game creations.

In a follow-up tweet, Corden stated; "If you want cross platform Minecraft for PlayStation, bug Sony".

In the future, the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile and VR versions of this game will be simply referred to as "Minecraft". The feature will initially launch with four servers - Lifeboat, Mineplex, InPVP, and CubeCraft, but Stone said more will follow. Today, Rocket League was announced as working cross-platform between Switch, Xbox and PC.

"It's not for lack of wanting to or effort on our part", senior global communications manager Aubrey Norris says.

A separate DLC, called the Super Duper Graphics Pack, will take things even further, offering "dynamic shadows, lighting that streams through fog, movement in leaves and grass, new textures for mobs and villagers, directional lighting, edge highlighting and more!"

It's not for everyone, though, since it'll require more powerful hardware.

While Minecraft is a game that has evolved a lot over the years, one aspect that's remained relatively samey throughout its lifecycle is its graphics.

Heads up, Minecraft fans: a major update is coming soon.
