Beyond Good And Evil 2 Beta Sign Ups Are Live

Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced during Ubisoft's press conference at E3 today-14 years after the original game launched. The game takes place before the birth of Jade, the protagonist of the first Beyond Good & Evil, in a "vast solar system" called System 3.

The first game was released back in 2003 - gracing PS2, GameCube and the original Xbox - was intended as the first of a trilogy, but it's been an exceedingly long road to bring the sequel to life.

The creative director also hints that vehicle chase scenes like the one in the trailer will be part of gameplay.

Fans have been anticipating more news on "Beyond Good & Evil 2" for years; Ubisoft has previously shown concept trailers for a sequel that featured characters from the first game.

The developers went on the invite players to join their Space Monkey Program to help the crew build the game the way they imagined. The trailer ends with the two characters entering a spaceship, to much applause from their comrades, and handing over the acquired object to a mysterious woman with a robot hand, green eyes and short black hair, reminiscent of Jade.

We had just seen the glimpse of System 3, a center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky way of the 24th century done by the hybrid slaves. "Its been near 15 years", he says, but it has finally arrived.

Talking about the game on-stage, Michel said it'll have a "seamless online playground" where people can play by themselves or with friends. I'm incredibly thankful to Ubisoft and to the fans for giving us the time and the trust to get it right. It is not clear if this is a beta of the main game, but it seems like they will be looking for player feedback as they make the game to make it into something memorable.

There's a persistent rumor floating around that Beyond Good & Evil 2 could be a Switch timed exclusive, but Ubi has said nothing about platforms, release dates or exclusivity as yet. However, we may know more tonight, during the Spotlight event that Nintendo has in the stores for E3 2017.
