Aston Villa reportedly battle with Liverpool for talented defender

The 18-year-old defender made 5 appearances last season in the Premier League as Hull suffered relegation in agonising fashion, but his performances were enough to indicate there is clearly considerable talent among the youth ranks at the KCom.

As reported by ESPN FC, Aston Villa is one of the contenders for the transfer of promising your defender Josh Tymon, who now plays for Hull.

Hull were relegated from the Premier League, despite new Watford head coach Marco Silva's best efforts after taking over in January, and are facing a battle to keep home of Tymon, according to ESPN.

Josh Tymon is a product of the Tigers' academy setup and has progressed rapidly to be a regular part in the first-team.

A recent report from ESPN suggested that Hull City left-back Josh Tymon was being targeted by Premier League sides Liverpool, Stoke and Watford, while Championship heavyweights Aston Villa were also keen on the 18-year-old.

Another potential destination for Tymon is Stoke City, where he would provide back-up for Erik Pieters.

The 18-year-old, who reportdly now earns just £160-a-week, has not signed a professional contract at the KCOM Stadium despite playing for the first-team.

He is mainly deployed as a left-back but can also play on the left wing and has the capabilities of a player that can play in a more central role.

For now, though, Tymon remains a highly sought-after quantity and it wouldn't be a surprise if other clubs join the race in the days to come.
