Accuser gives emotional testimony in Cosby trial

"He asked me whether I had ever straightened my hair before", said Constand, 44, who has curly brown hair. "He made a pass at me".

Wearing a two-piece suit and sporty white sneakers, Constand frequently fiddled with her reading glasses during the cross examination, sometimes having trouble following the evidence and requesting assistance from the attorneys.

"You allowed him to touch you?"

"No", Constand fired back.

The mother of the main accuser in Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial told the jury on Wednesday that the disgraced United States megastar admitted in a telephone conversation 12 years ago that "he was a sick man".

The completion of Constand's testimony after only three days - and a tidy round of questioning for her mother later on Wednesday - seemed to raise the stakes that the high-profile trial was barreling much more quickly to its end. Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Constand at his home outside Philadelphia in 2004.

Constand disagreed with the attorney's suggestion that they were in bed together. She says she made it clear she didn't welcome the behavior.

Ms Constand had previously testified that Cosby had drugged and molested her when she visited his home for dinner one night. "I learned more about it from the defendant than I did from her", Gianna Constand said. "Morning, noon and night".

In response to phone records indicating she called Cosby 53 times after the alleged assault, Constand said most of the calls were to update Cosby on the status of the women's basketball team in the postseason tournament, and most of the calls went unanswered. "There was a nice mood". Constand was the director of operations for the women's basketball team at the time of the alleged assault in 2004.

"So you knew - you were alone at his home - that Mr. Cosby was interested in you romantically?"

"He had never disclosed to me that he had affection for me", Constand added.

Constand worked at Temple University at the time and Cosby was a trustee. She says he also apologized.

During breaks, the defendant - who maintains that he is legally blind - appeared upbeat and exchanged pleasantries with the aide accompanying him.

The attorney grew accusatory at points as she suggested that early on Constand had tried to downplay the 16-month relationship she had with the entertainer before the purported attack - one that included gifts Cosby gave her such as cashmere sweaters, perfume and a $225 hair dryer.

Defense attorneys have pointed to inconsistencies in Constand's testimony and questioned why she waited a year to report the alleged assault to police.

The almost 80-year-old comedian showed little reaction during his accuser's testimony, only occasionally whispering to his legal team or placing his hands on or near his face.

Los Angeles lawyer Angela Agrusa has spent a painstaking hour going over Andrea Constand's old phone records. Mom he raped me...

According to Watts, Gianni began by describing how her daughter Andrea's behavior began to change around 2004 - the year that Constand says Cosby sexually assaulted her.

Pierro, who moved to D.C. a month ago from Peru, countered and said, "I don't think the jury makeup will play a huge role into it".

Look at any sexual assault case in the last few years and you will find defense lawyers attempt to discredit the alleged victims, poke holes in their stories, and question the timing of alleged victims decisions to come forward. It's no wonder statistics like RAINN's find that few perpetrators of sexual assault are ever brought to justice.
