500000 fans may attend parade for Penguins' Stanley Cup win

Pittsburgh is hosting a parade to celebrate the Penguins' Stanley Cup championship. The Penguins could buy-out Fleury, but that move would have implications on Pittsburgh's cap. Reality, however, may start to climb back in for fans now that the expansion draft is near. He will be left unprotected in the upcoming NHL Expansion Draft as the Penguins will protect Matt Murray as their goaltender.

Marc-Andre Fleury waived his no-movement clause all the way back in February, playing the postseason knowing it would nearly surely be his last with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Penguins are just days out from winning their second Stanley Cup in a row. Teams are allowed to protect one goalie ahead of the expansion draft, and obviously Pittsburgh will do so with Murray.

It's worth noting Fleury has both a no movement clause and a no trade clause. Instead, the clause was waived only for the Golden Knights. Vegas would also have the option of selecting Fleury in the draft before subsequently trading him to another club. It's a very likely possibility that Fleury doesn't end up in Vegas when everything is said and done this offseason, as the Golden Knights could flip him to another team.

In his career, Fleury has played in 707 games, compiling a record of 384-220-70 with a 2.58 goals against average and a.912 save percentage.

The Penguins won the cup Sunday against the Nashville Predators with a 2-0 win in Game 6.

Reportedly prompted by a request from the Penguins, that decision makes Fleury available to the upstart Vegas Golden Knights in this month's expansion draft.
