'The Witcher Saga' heads to Netflix as TV series

'The Witcher Saga' heads to Netflix as TV series

The Witcher has an engaging, thrilling, and the politically charged story that touches the fringes of grey morality, much like the Game of Thrones series.

An English-language drama series based Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy franchise has gone into development, with the Sean Daniel Company and Platige Image attached. "The Witcher" started to gain worldwide fame when it was adapted into a series of video games developed by CD Projekt Red. The characters also have an incredible range of different tempers and attitudes that act in their own context. The author was reportedly thrilled about the upcoming TV series. Given his recent interview about the games, I'm nearly certain he's figured out that royalties are key where The Witcher is concerned.

No additional information about the plot or casting have been released as of yet, and it remains to be seen whether the series will be Live Action or CGI. As we already know, HBO's most popular fantasy show is on its last season and there are no hints that it will be extended. He emphasized that there is intellectual and moral depth in the novels that go beyond any genre.

That isn't to say that the Netflix series will be completely devoid of influence from the games, as Tomas Baginski will direct at least one episode of the show. Until then we can always relive the story ourselves - The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is available on PC and through backwards compatibility on Xbox One, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Both Baginski and Sawko belong to Polish visual effects studio Platige Image which was responsible for the CGI intros for The Witcher video games.

As of this writing, the premiere date of The Witcher series is not yet revealed. "We couldn't be more excited about bringing The Witcher saga to Netflix members around the world".
