Ronald Koeman not confident over Ross Barkley's Everton future

Ronald Koeman not confident over Ross Barkley's Everton future

"I think Manchester City will try and sign stronger and maybe better players - players who have won things over the years".

Everton finish their season with an away game against Arsenal on Sunday and it is highly unlikely that Barkley will have made up his mind by then, as reported by the Telegraph.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has said that Ross Barkley would struggle to gain game time at Arsenal or Tottenham.

Ronald Koeman says he is not confident Ross Barkley will stay at Everton and has begun the search for a midfield replacement. "I don't need to explain more because if we don't want the player to stay longer, then we don't offer him a new contract".

The Dutchman will know that there are plenty of other good options on the market, and it is down to him to select the best of those.

"I am not anxious because I like to work with players who like to play".

'If you offer a player a new contract, and a good contract, that means you want to keep the player.

'I have got a picture of where we need to improve.

Lukaku, now on a deal that has just over two years left, has scored 24 league goals this season, which did have him in pole position for the golden boot until Tottenham's Harry Kane netted four times at Leicester on Thursday to take his tally to 26.

Koeman also gave his thoughts on striker Romelu Lukaku's bid to win the Premier League Golden Boot. But that's what we work on.

"What we need is to keep his goals and find more players to score more than four or five in one season".
