Pro-Ryan group launches ad thanking supporters of House healthcare bill

"The House bill is not going to come before us", Collins said Sunday on ABC's "This Week".

"Senator [Elizabeth] Warren [(D-Mass.)] and I are going to do everything in our power to stop this bill in the United States Senate". "We're going to draft our own bill".

President Donald Trump talks with House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wis., in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, May 4, 2017, after the House pushed through a health care bill.

He also claimed that Obamacare "was a lie and it is dead". John Cornyn (R, Texas) says there is "no deadline" for their bill yet, and that they're more concerned with "working toward getting 51 votes".

The House passed the American Healthcare Act on Thursday, 217-123, a bill which would repeal certain parts of Obamacare including terminating fines on people who don't purchase policies and erasing taxes on health industry businesses and people with higher earnings. Such a scenario would then force the House and Senate to work together to forge a compromise bill that both houses can support. The Obama-era law expanded Medicaid with extra payments to 31 states to cover more people.

The House of Representatives may have passed a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, but it's far from being a done deal. It would dilute consumer-friendly insurance coverage requirements, like prohibiting higher premiums for customers with pre-existing medical conditions and watering down the subsidies that help consumers afford health insurance.

On "State of the Union" earlier Sunday morning, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price defended the cuts to Medicaid, saying they will give "states greater flexibility" under the bill.

In the coming days, the independent Congressional Budget Office is set to release its assessment of how much the Republican plan would cost in the next decade and how many millions of people would lose their insurance under it.

"But most importantly, it's us trying to fix a real problem that real people are experiencing in this country".

"Republican senators will not let the American people down!" he tweeted from his home in central New Jersey, where he spent a long weekend. "The Senate will complete the job". He should make sure the questions we asked above are answered affirmatively and, if he has an open mind toward improving rather than defeating the measure, Republicans should hear him out.

"It is an impossible thing to do, and my job and the MA delegation's job is to make their job even tougher", Markey added at the Boston office of Health Care for All, an advocacy group.

Collins and Ryan appeared on ABC's "This Week" and Priebus was on "Fox News Sunday".
