Nigerian University Rocked by Blasts, 1 Person Dead

Three university security personnel were reported injured.

According to the President of the UNIMAID Student Union Government (SUG), Abu Babati told Punch that it occurred on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

An explosion was heard in the scholol premises at about 11pm while another bomber detonated at about 12am, it was gathered.

At least one person was killed after two explosions at the University of Maiduguri in northern Nigeria.

Three Suicide bombers have been confirmed dead in the early hours of Friday in Maiduguri, Borno while attempting to enter some locations in the University of Maiduguri. It was the fourth attack on the school since January.

The Head of Media and Public Relations of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sani Datti, said the university's security officers and vigilance group members intercepted the suicide bombers before they could enter the campus.

"The other two bombers detonated their near a construction site also within the proximity of the University premises, killing themselves alone".

He said one of the bombers was accosted by a soldier stationed around the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and was shot at after detonating his bomb. Scene visited by EOD personnel and normalcy restored.
