Judge declares Prince's 6 siblings the heirs to his estate

The six heirs to the Prince estate have been officially determined.

Some would-be heirs, whose claims of heirship were rejected, have filed appeals. Eide said that if the appellate courts send those cases back to him, he'll still fully consider them.

The assets of Prince's estate will be distributed via a court order and will not affect the pending appeals. But lawyers for Prince's siblings didn't want to wait, saying further delays would have increased costs to the estate and impede its efficient administration.

The siblings will still have to wait to inherit their shares of Prince's estate, which court filings suggest has an estimated value of about $200 million, though taxes are expected to consume about half of that. And until the appeals are resolved, Eide said the siblings won't be able to collect anything without his approval. That didn't happen (two banks were named administrators) but at the time, Nelson listed her five half-siblings, Omarr Baker, Alfred Jackson, Sharon Nelson, Norrine Nelson, and John R. Nelson, as potential heirs.

The ruling comes nine days after a hearing in which the siblings pressed for a resolution, and after months of sometimes colorful claims by people who say they are Prince's descendants.

Universal earlier this year announced with fanfare that it had secured the rights to Prince's catalog after the mid-1990s, when the singer exited rival label Warner, as well as unspecified recordings from Prince's earlier heyday.

Prince died on April 21 previous year of an accidental drug overdose.

The court on Friday also called on L. Londell McMillan to turn over Prince business agreements to the estate administrator.

Good news for Prince's loved ones.
