A Georgia congressional election is headed to a high-stakes runoff that's shaping up as a referendum on President Donald Trump ahead of crucial midterm elections next year.
In fact, Trump arguably gave Ossoff his opening in the first place; Trump barely won the Georgia 6th in November and failed to win a majority, four years after Republican Mitt Romney got more than 60 percent of the presidential vote.

Trump repeatedly attacked Ossoff's record before the vote, saying he would be a "disaster" in Congress.
"Obviously, we're very excited, and what happened last night is very encouraging", said Handel.

He benefited from a fractured Republican field of 11 candidates, some of whom emphasised their loyalty to Mr Trump while others kept their distance.
