Teardown concludes Galaxy S8 has a Galaxy Note 7 battery

While typical LCD screens in smartphones utilize three equally-sized subpixels - red, green, and blue - the Galaxy S8's AMOLED panel features an unconventional layout where small, oval-shaped green pixels sit between much larger, diamond-shaped red and blue pixels.

Galaxy S8 builds on the Samsung's heritage of creating stunning designs and functional devices. The S8, on the other hand, gets a smaller, 5.8-inch display with the same resolution.

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8 inch QHD display; while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2 inch QHD display. The Galaxy S8 largely sticks with what worked last time around, hardware-wise, with another 12-megapixel main camera with f/1.7 aperture. This will feature curved dual-edge display, 18.5:9 aspect ratio and minimal bezels present on the bottom and top.

The two Samsung smartphones are the first flagships since the fateful Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and will determine how the public perceives the brand after the debacle. It has a 4GB RAM and a 64GB internal storage which can be expandable upto 256 GB.

"The Galaxy S8 and S8+ provide heightened security and privacy, with biometric authentication, including fingerprint scanner, iris scanning technology, as well as facial recognition, so users can quickly and effortlessly unlock their Galaxy S8 or S8+". There is an option to clean out unnecessary background apps, while another button lets you choose from various power modes, which includes optimized, game, performance, and entertainment. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also come with Samsung's trademark always-on functionality. Both of them also come with a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 up front.

An image purporting to show a prototype for the Galaxy S8+ emerged this week, complete with a dual-camera setup on the rear. Moreover, the smartphone also comes bundled with Samsung's own AI assistant dubbed Bixby.
