Patriots' Gronkowski crashes White House Press Briefing

Patriots' Gronkowski crashes White House Press Briefing

Spicer - an avid Patriots fan - responded "I think I got this".

Brady made headlines for having a Donald Trump baseball cap in his locker after Trump became a candidate in 2015.

At the White House daily briefing, reporter George Condon asked Press Secretary Sean Spicer to name a single legislative accomplishment from Trump's agenda that he could boast when the 100-day mark hits. The two men are close with Trump, as Kraft joined Trump and Japan's prime minister at Mar-a-Lago, and Belichick wrote a letter Trump before Election Day, which he said was done out of friendship, not politics.

Brady is a personal friend of Trump's, and the president often cited the quarterback while out on the campaign trail past year.

According to the team's photo in front of the White House, several more contributors also chose to stay home.

The White House is aware of "potential negative impacts" from a review ordered by Trump of whether lifting sanctions through the Iran nuclear deal was in US national security interests, his spokesman says.

Trump talked about the persistence of the Patriots and their tremendous success through the years, and like most presidents greeting a championship team, he found a way to include some humor. Brady's absence - his second skipped D.C. trip in a row - was due to "personal family matters."

A number of teammates did not attend the event, including quarterback Tom Brady, who has said in the past that he and the president are friends.

Skipping a team visit to the White House isn't new for athletes.

One player made an impromptu appearance at a White House press before the official ceremony.

Besides Brady, at least six members of the team were not expected at Wednesday's event. I'm going back to work on my bunker.

Trump reflected on the Patriots for approximately 10 minutes before handing the podium over to Kraft, who called the Super Bowl 51 win "unequivocally our sweetest victory".
