Happy Easter! Know why it is called the Resurrection Sunday
"I wish all Nigerians a happy Easter in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord".
"Here in Trinidad and Tobago, Easter comes at a time when the poui trees are in full bloom and serve as a reminder of what a truly blessed time is Easter". Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for everyone's wrong doings and then came back to life to defeat death and evil.
Everyone who becomes a Christian does so because they believe that when Jesus was crucified on the cross, he paid the ultimate price for human sin, and that his resurrection enables anyone who believes in him to overcome sin and temptation. There are people who are visiting family, college students are home, shut ins make a special effort because it is Easter.
"It is a period when, after the 40-day Lenten period in which we deny ourselves of comfort and celebrate God's ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ for mankind".
I realize that even as I write this there are people who feel hopeless, who don't feel God's love in the midst of their troubled lives.
Labasa Methodist Church circuit's Reverend Jone Ledua described Easter as the day all Christians around the world looked forward to.
"He has been raised from the dead, just as He said it would happen."It is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrection of Christ brought new hope of eternal salvation for Christians.
"A very Happy Easter Sunday to all Malaysian Christians celebrating at home or overseas", he said in expressing his good wishes to those celebrating Easter.
Many celebrated Easter service at St. Theresa Catholic church in Palm Springs Sunday morning. "Because of this resurrection, we can have life instead of death; vitality instead of lack of energy; hope instead of despair and victory instead of defeat". We renewed two pledges made when we were baptized: to believe in, and therefore, to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul; and to reject Satan and sinfulness.
In his Easter Greetings to the Christian community, the Archbishop said Easter celebrates the rising of Jesus from death to a new life, reminding us that light conquers darkness, love conquers hatred and truth conquers deceit.
